We've been saved, have you?  Do you share our so-called values?

Wow CNN has outdone itself.  Talk about NAIVE, it now just copies down GOP talking points.  In a headline CNN web site story they say this, "Analysis:  Values voters can't be ignored."  Wow, they go on to discuss EVANGELICALS and to listen to CNN's reporting you'd think they are the only Christians alive.  So if you're Catholic, or an Atheist, I guess you have NO values?

It seems that CNN is dumb enough to always buy into the rightwing BS. Once again you have a web story titled "VALUES voters can't be ignored." First off who's talking points are you using CNN? Who says any of these so called church goers have any more values than you or I? In recent past I can readily point to a lot of them that don't and if CNN used a little grey matter it could to.

Ok, secondly, exactly what are these so-called values? It seems all they care about is electing a Republican... any Republican... (even compromising themselves for John McCain) and already so many of them have no values except that of the almighty dollar. So once again CNN, thanks for furthering the myth. There are no journalists or reporters at CNN, you are simply GOP stenographers at best.

Robert Novak Hits Pedestrian With His Black Corvette, Cited By DC Police

Politico's Jonathan Harris and Chris Frates report that Robert Novak was cited by DC police Wednesday morning after hitting a pedestrian with his black Corvette:

Syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak was cited by police after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette in downtown Washington, D.C., on Wednesday morning.

A Politico reporter saw Novak in the front of a police car with a citation in his hand; a WJLA-TV crew and reporter saw Novak as well. The pedestrian, a 66-year-old male, was hospitalized at George Washington University Hospital with minor injuries, according to DC Fire and EMS. Novak was later released by police and drove away from the scene.

"I didn't know I hit him. I feel terrible," a shaken Novak told reporters from Politico and WJLA as he was returning to his car. "He's not dead, that's the main thing." Novak said he was a block away from 18th and K streets Northwest, where the accident happened, when a bicyclist stopped him and said, "You hit someone." He said he was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

The bicyclist was David Bono, a partner at Harkins Cunningham, who was on his usual bike commute to work at 1700 K St. N.W. when he saw the accident happen.

As he traveled east on K Street, crossing 18th, Bono said a "black Corvette convertible with top closed plowed into the guy. The guy is sort of splayed onto the windshield."

Watch a local DC news report on the Novak pedestrian accident:

In an exclusive interview with TMZ, Novak admitted that he was at fault but blamed NPR for distracting him while driving:

Novak tells us he was listening to NPR in his Corvette when suddenly, "Some guy came up and hit my car with his fist. I figured I had done something that had created road rage, but I didn't know what it was. Then a bicyclist blocked the road in front of me. I asked what the problem was. He said, 'You can't just hit people and run away!'"

Novak says the cops came, put him "briefly" in the back of the police car and asked about what he heard at the time of impact. Novak told them and us that he didn't hear or feel anything. They asked if he had been drinking or on a cellphone. He answered "no" to both.

Novak, who was citied for failing to yield, says he won't fight the ticket, adding, "I assume witnesses are telling the truth."  A little lawsuit might bust this arrogant SOB's bubble.  I hope he gets sued for a lot of money... hit and run even for a Repuke like him is still against the law!

OK, Tim Russert has died.  You know, I met the man a few times, and he was nice to pal around with.  Tim was a good conversationalist while drinking a few longnecks in Austin.  In fact, he was our guest speaker at a Texas Association of Broadcasters convention, and he did a decent job.

Of course, the one mourning his loss the most is Dickless Cheney.  Now who's he gonna get to disseminate all his misinformation?  I can't believe all these media types that are praising this man the way they are... you'd think that after all that been revealed they'd at least hold back Sainthood... after all he was duped the most and certainly helped Dickless and his band of hardcore lairs sell the war.. and the end result over 4000 died!  So, I wish this parade of cowards called Main Stream Media would cut back some on singing the praises of Tim Russert.

Actually instead of Meet the Press... it should have been called "RNC PROPAGANDA with Timmuh."  Why can't the media see his faults?  My God, the man had more than just a few warts.  He isn't Jesus Christ, nor is he Saddam Hussein... he was Tim Russert, the Washington Bureau Chief who got played by Dickless Cheney for Gods sake!

You know what? Had Tim Russert ever apologized for being duped, willingly, or unwillingly being used by Dick Cheney to disseminate lies, manipulations, distortions and outright GOP propaganda, I might have still had some respect for his journalistic standing, but HE DIDN'T. He never once even admitted what Scooter Libby said. Therefore he was a journalistic fraud... running a major networks Washington Bureau. Yes the man was a likeable sort, but he was nothing less and nothing more than someone used as a "tool" by Dick Cheney.  And to watch the all day love-fest and memorial by the TV networks telling us what a giant Russert was disgusts me.  If this is who they consider to be a GIANT; looking up to someone that was so lazy and disinterested in fact checking, relying solely on the word of the Vice President and his minions, then God please help us all.

Tonight, one of my very favorite blogs Crooks and Liars is censoring posts faster than John McCain flip flopped on the TORTUE issue.   They are attempting to have nothing negative posted about Tim Russert.  I'm confused as to why, but they claim it's simply out of RESPECT.  Question Crooks and Liars, just where was the respect shown to every American when we learned how the charming Mr. Russert was used to sell us a BOGUS war?

I just saw Tweety live from Paris with his tribute to Timmuh. Nice job seeing as how, Tweety was never Tim Russerts best friend. Apparently, there was some friction between them. Any way, Chris Matthews brought up another difference between the two. He spoke as how he had asked Tim why he felt the Iraq war was justified. Russert replied the nuclear aspect. Saying if they had a nuke, we had to deal with it. Matthews explained that Russert was looking at it just as any average American might and he felt a patriotic urge. Russert felt that IF it was true, we had to go to war.

In other words, his instinct was to protect America. Now isn't that exactly what Cheney and Bush wanted? What better guy to help make your case? Which is why the VP's office went on Meet the Press first and most often while selling and preparing us for war. I didn't say it, or make it up.  Scooter Libby told the court that... folks, there is a court record, don't believe me? Just look it up. FYI, Matthews started that segment by saying, "this will be tricky, but..."

I have rarely agreed with much of what Tweety says, but this one nailed it right on the head. It gives great insight into the former NBC Washington Bureau Chief's thinking. Or better yet, lack there of... he was acting on emotion, not journalistic instinct, or training.

Wow, isn't the Socialist Republic of Crooks and Liars wonderful?  You can't say anything even slightly negative about a man that the Media is holding up as a journalistic giant.  Forget the fact that this is a man that didn't do his job all that well when it came to Iraq.  Tim Russert was buying the White Houses BS about Iraq all the way.

Yet, Crooks and Liars allowed 1000's times more negative items be posted about Hillary, Kucinich and even Obama.  Of course, the only excuse, or the exception here is that HE died?  No one has said the man wasn't a decent human being... its just that he lacked journalistic instinct.  Mr. Russert let patriotism, or what he thought to be patriotism get in the way of solid judgment and unfortunately 4000 died.

Ah but this post like so many others will be censored, because they don't want his legacy to ne the Washington Bureau Chief played as a "TOOL" by the least liked and trusted Vice President ever. OK, so Crooks and Liars wants your opinions, but only if they agree with their stance on the issue... is that what you're saying Mr. Amato? My how progressive and democratic.  God help us all... comrade!

Wow, I actually got one of my posts on C&L for over 20 minutes now. They must be taking a coffee break or something. I keep reading what a nice guy Tim Russert was. I read how friendly and nice he was. Once again, is just being a good guy all that matters here? He was someone charged with getting to the truth... that was his mission as a journalist. He succeeded often, but with what has to be his BIGGEST mission, he failed. And then sat quietly never explaining it. Yes, as a person, a father and by all measures a SON, Tim Russert was tops. What emotions seem to be dictating here tonight is... "but he's gone... he was a good guy".

Folks, may I remind you 4,000 are gone, 70,000 have life lasting injuries... and journalists everywhere didn't do their jobs. Still it was Tim Russert who was "outed" by Scooter Libby as the VP's first choice, the easiest mark for selling the war. Yes, Tim Russert is gone, but his legacy shouldn't only be "he was a good guy, he is Mr. Friendly, etc. He and NBC must bare responsibility for unwittingly, or maybe even willingly selling the American people the Iraq War. We owe it to the ones who did their jobs and lost their lives, and to those who've come home scarred and maimed for life. Fair is Fair!  Whoops Crooks and Liars has banned me from posting.  Once again, post at C&L only if they agree with your post...  Here's someone that also agrees with my take on the Russert Weekend Love In - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/06/17/EDMT11A0S7.DTL

KEITH OLBERMANN
I've been a huge fan of Keith Olbermann's for several years.  This site has been full of his special comments and I've heaped praise after prasie on Keith... that is until now.  I'm a little sick and tired of his ego and his incessant cheerleading for Obama at the cost of all else.  Humm, maybe Keith thinks he'll get a cabinet post from all of this????

Someone needs to try and reign in Mr. Olbermann.  His ego is out of control.  Once he appeared to be objective but of course that was before he joined the Obama PR Team.  First off, the big poll from NBC tonight mainly shows that the PUNDITS were wrong in their assessment of McCain.  The love affair between many of the media and Grandpa clouded their objectivity and led them to believe all of the McCain hype.  Oddly, Keith Olbemann has mentioned that very fact several times himself, yet he can't see it when he's doing it (with his own Obama cheerleading).

The poll BUMP doesn't necessarily mean that Obama has just taken flight and surged ahead.  It (the POLL) shows simply how much overblown the McCain estimate has been all along.  It doesn't take a genius to understand this phenomenon... McCain has sucked up to the media while creating his so called MAVERICK credentials.  He gives them access when he wants and is extremely friendly.  Yet when you consider the 2006 elections where Republicans were trashed soundly, all the corruption that has been uncovered, the lies with the run up to war, and Bush's unpopularity, etc.  Why or better yet, how  could they have still over estimated McSame?  The same way they bought the White House bullshit... it was hand fed to them with a big smile.  You know, maybe they really are just lazy and don't want to work for a story... and instead they'll take and run with whatever they are given.  Especially if it's well written and grammatically correct..

Secondly to blast Katie Couric for accusing many in the media and punditry of sexism just proves how out of touch Keith has become.  I for one am not a big Katie Couric fan (see below), but guess what?  Katie is only one of millions who think Hillary was given a hard ride by the media, and especially MSNBC.  Keith is about to alienate many liberals/progressives and DEMS if he keeps this up. His cheerleading for Obama at the cost of objectivity will cost... him and NBC.  Try and remember that 16 million of us voted for Hillary.

WAKE UP main stream media and especially MSNBC!

video_wmv click here to watch this latest lie from Fox News

You know you’re doing something right when FOXNews attacks you and apparently, Keith Olbermann’s recent ratings boom has them scared to death. Keith makes a point of raking FOXNews and their talking heads over the coals for their lies, propaganda and shoddy “journalism,” and now they’re going after him personally. The nutty gang on Fox & Friends were positively shocked this morning at a recent interview Olbermann gave to Men’s Journal in which the interviewer quotes an unnamed MSNBC executive as saying that due to his ratings boom, Keith Olbermann is now running the network.

It’s safe to assume it was a figure of speech, but the Fox morning crew, in an attempt to create a faux scandal, twisted the story around to give the impression that Keith actually runs the news departments for both NBC and MSNBC — and that Countdown is an partisan, opinion show, not a news show therefore, it’s unethical for him to run a news department. Why, you ask, is this so? Because FOX has people like Sean Hannity on their network who also does an opinion show, but he’s never been a part of their real “news” programs. I hate to break it to them, but it doesn’t matter who’s mouth it comes out of, nobody considers anything aired on FOXNews to be real news.

Katie being the sneaky bitch we all knew she was... and what's with her obsession with Cindy McCain?

Brokaw scolds Matthews - from KOS at the Daily KOS

You don't have to be too perceptive to sense the frustration Brokaw had with Matthews on NH election night. And trust me Tom, we all felt it. MSNBC's coverage, thanks exclusively to Matthews, was a disgrace.

Looking at America (this is from the NY Times).
There are too many moments these days when we cannot recognize our country. Sunday was one of them, as we read the account in The Times of how men in some of the most trusted posts in the nation plotted to cover up the torture of prisoners by Central Intelligence Agency interrogators by destroying videotapes of their sickening behavior. It was impossible to see the founding principles of the greatest democracy in the contempt these men and their bosses showed for the Constitution, the rule of law and human decency.

It was not the first time in recent years we’ve felt this horror, this sorrowful sense of estrangement, not nearly. This sort of lawless behavior has become standard practice since Sept. 11, 2001.

The country and much of the world was rightly and profoundly frightened by the single-minded hatred and ingenuity displayed by this new enemy. But there is no excuse for how President Bush and his advisers panicked — how they forgot that it is their responsibility to protect American lives and American ideals, that there really is no safety for Americans or their country when those ideals are sacrificed.

Out of panic and ideology, President Bush squandered America’s position of moral and political leadership, swept aside international institutions and treaties, sullied America’s global image, and trampled on the constitutional pillars that have supported our democracy through the most terrifying and challenging times. These policies have fed the world’s anger and alienation and have not made any of us safer.

In the years since 9/11, we have seen American soldiers abuse, sexually humiliate, torment and murder prisoners in Afghanistan and Iraq. A few have been punished, but their leaders have never been called to account. We have seen mercenaries gun down Iraqi civilians with no fear of prosecution. We have seen the president, sworn to defend the Constitution, turn his powers on his own citizens, authorizing the intelligence agencies to spy on Americans, wiretapping phones and intercepting international e-mail messages without a warrant.

We have read accounts of how the government’s top lawyers huddled in secret after the attacks in New York and Washington and plotted ways to circumvent the Geneva Conventions — and both American and international law — to hold anyone the president chose indefinitely without charges or judicial review.

Those same lawyers then twisted other laws beyond recognition to allow Mr. Bush to turn intelligence agents into torturers, to force doctors to abdicate their professional oaths and responsibilities to prepare prisoners for abuse, and then to monitor the torment to make sure it didn’t go just a bit too far and actually kill them.

The White House used the fear of terrorism and the sense of national unity to ram laws through Congress that gave law-enforcement agencies far more power than they truly needed to respond to the threat — and at the same time fulfilled the imperial fantasies of Vice President Dick Cheney and others determined to use the tragedy of 9/11 to arrogate as much power as they could.

Hundreds of men, swept up on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq, were thrown into a prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, so that the White House could claim they were beyond the reach of American laws. Prisoners are held there with no hope of real justice, only the chance to face a kangaroo court where evidence and the names of their accusers are kept secret, and where they are not permitted to talk about the abuse they have suffered at the hands of American jailers.

In other foreign lands, the C.I.A. set up secret jails where “high-value detainees” were subjected to ever more barbaric acts, including simulated drowning. These crimes were videotaped, so that “experts” could watch them, and then the videotapes were destroyed, after consultation with the White House, in the hope that Americans would never know.

The C.I.A. contracted out its inhumanity to nations with no respect for life or law, sending prisoners — some of them innocents kidnapped on street corners and in airports — to be tortured into making false confessions, or until it was clear they had nothing to say and so were let go without any apology or hope of redress.

These are not the only shocking abuses of President Bush’s two terms in office, made in the name of fighting terrorism. There is much more — so much that the next president will have a full agenda simply discovering all the wrongs that have been done and then righting them.

We can only hope that this time, unlike 2004, American voters will have the wisdom to grant the awesome powers of the presidency to someone who has the integrity, principle and decency to use them honorably. Then when we look in the mirror as a nation, we will see, once again, the reflection of the United States of America.

My God, it's hard to imagine that the same newspaper that hired Willim "Bloody" Kristol would be the same newspaper to write this critique. How schitzoid can they be?
